Teardrop Care Centre for Children with Disabilities

VACD’s (Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities) goal is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities in the poorest provinces of Sri Lanka, by providing them with infrastructure and resources, supporting their development, teaching them skills to enable independent living, and empowering them and their families to be accepted as equals within their local communities.

Teardrop Hotels is the lead sponsor of the VACD centre in Ambagagoda, which serves 39 registered children. Among the services offered, are workshops on mental disabilities conducted for parents, caregivers and the local community along with vocational and educational classes held daily between 8.30am to 12.30pm. The centre also provides rehabilitation and free consultations with specialist doctors.

Wish tree initiative donates gift hampers to beneficiaries of VACD

Last Christmas, Teardrop Hotels set up a Wish Tree initiative across our hotels with the aim of raising funds for underserved children and their families in the communities we operate in. Through generous donations from guests and staff over the holiday season, we raised funds towards thoughtful hampers for the VACD beneficiaries.
