Teardrop Care Centre for Children with Disabilities

Teardrop Hotels has committed to being the lead sponsor of the ‘Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities’ (VACD) centre opening in the hill country town of Welimada.

As we continue to grow, and particularly now that we have three established hotels in the tea hills, we felt it was the right time to commit more funds, time and energy into helping children with disabilities to enjoy a better education and brighter future. We are thrilled that VACD are keen to expedite their Welimada centre and are looking forward to the launch in a few months.” – Henry Fitch, CEO, Teardrop Hotels

“We are delighted to hear that Teardrop Hotels will partner with VACD as the main sponsor for our proposed Welimada centre that is scheduled to be opened in May 2023. The centre will be named “The Teardrop CARE Centre for Children with Disabilities”. – Felix Stephen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, VACD Australia.

Wish tree initiative donates gift hampers to beneficiaries of VACD

Last year over Christmas, our Sustainability and Welfare teams set up a Wish Tree initiative across each of our properties and at Teardrop’s headquarters in Colombo with the aim of raising funds for the underserved children and their families in and around the communities we operate in. Through generous donations from guests and staff over the holiday season, we raised funds towards thoughtful hampers for the VACD beneficiaries.
