Visit to a Sea Turtle Conservation Centre

Kosgoda Beach, a short drive from Lunuganga, is an important nesting ground for marine turtles, and frequented by five of the world’s seven species of marine turtles, all of which are considered threatened or endangered.

On this visit, you’ll be guided around to see baby, juvenile, and adult turtles – a mix of green, olive ridley and leatherback species. Although there are similar turtle hatcheries in the area, this particular one is committed to protecting the turtle’s habitat by organising weekly beach cleans.

Tips & Inclusions:
If your visit coincides with the hatchery’s release schedule, you may even witness baby turtles making their first journey to the sea (additional costs apply)
