Tour the whimsical gardens of the late Goeffrey Bawa
Lunuganga is the former country estate of renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. Once a cinnamon and rubber plantation, Bawa spent over 40 years transforming it into one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic garden landscapes, a harmonious blend of architecture, art, and nature.
Today, the gardens are open for guided group tours, offering a glimpse into his visionary world – from framed lake views and sculptural courtyards to lily ponds and romantic pavilions.
For a light meal or refreshing drink, the Garden Café at Lunuganga (open 10am to 5pm) offers a tranquil place to relax pre or post tour.
