Sustainability and community, at the heart of everything we do.
From the very beginning sustainability and community have been at the very heart of the Teardrop story. We love this island home of ours and passionately believe that we can deliver distinct, memorable experiences for our guests while operating responsibly. We’re proud to have been awarded the Travelife Gold Certificate for accommodation sustainability at each of our hotels, an accreditation recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
Restoration & Transformation
Heritage buildings and vintage tea bungalows were carefully chosen for their character and have been lovingly restored.
Homegrown & Plastic-free
We aim for zero food miles by growing most of our vegetables and buying fresh seafood from local fishermen.
Supporting our Community
We support the communities in which we are based and positively contribute to their rhythm of life.
Teardrop CARE Foundation
The Teardrop CARE foundation (Creating a Rewarding Experience) was established to give back to the communities we work in. Led by our staff, our primary initiatives include workshops that support women from low-income segments in the tea country and near Colombo through our WEE CARE initiative (Women’s Economic Empowerment), supporting schools and orphanages by upgrading infrastructure, educational programs for youth, centered around the environmental and wildlife conservation through our Eco Warriors program, and community engagement and vocational training support towards The Tea Leaf Trust and VACD (Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities).
Teardrop CARE Initiatives
Our charitable foundation supports local causes in the communities we work in.
