From raw yarn to finished fabric, discover the inner workings at a family-run handloom studio on the outskirts of Galle.
Go behind the scenes of Sri Lanka’s traditional handloom craft in this immersive experience near Galle. Over the past 40 years, this family-run workshop has empowered more than 35 women from neighbouring villages through employment and skill development.
You’ll explore the entire process – from raw yarn to finished fabric – including traditional dyeing, where 100% virgin cotton is hand-dyed in vibrant, natural hues. Watch as the threads are prepared, dyed, and set on the loom, then try your hand at weaving with guidance from an expert artisan.
