GETTING TO TRI

Tri is 164km away from the Bandaranaike International Airport or a 2-hour drive from Colombo and is easily accessible by car. The south coast has a great road connection with the rest of the island, so getting to the hotel from other cities like Negombo, Yala or Ella is fairly straightforward.

From Yala: 2.5-hour drive or Ella: 3.5-hour drive. Alternatively, Cinnamon Air takes you from Colombo to Koggalla to in just over an hour.

STYLE AND CHARACTER

Designed by the award-winning architect Raefer Wallis of A00, a sustainable design firm, Tri was moulded along the existing contours of the land. The distinctive plan follows the Fibonacci spiral, a mathematical sequence often seen in nature. Like a swirling shell or an unfurling plant, the layout flows from the water tower in the centre.

The trees remain untouched. Clad in cinnamon branches, living walls and roofs, the buildings merge with the foliage, almost invisible in the greenery. Tri’s architecture celebrates balance – between indoors and out, between indulgence and simplicity, and between human craftsmanship and nature’s own design.

WEATHER AND SEASONALITY

Koggala enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round, with average temperatures hovering around 27–30°C. From December to April, the weather is at its sunniest with clear blue skies, golden light, and gentle lake breezes making it the ideal time for swimming, sailing, or exploring the south coast’s beaches.

The softer, greener months between May to the end of November are quieter and deeply atmospheric - perfect for yoga retreats, writing escapes, or simply slowing down by the water’s edge.
