Birdwatching
The avifauna of Sri Lanka is rich in diversity. There are approximately 500 species of birds found in the country, of which 33 are endemic to the island, while 216 are migrant birds that visit every winter. The Central Highlands of Sri Lanka is home to many of these birds, some of which are only found in the Hill Country, making Dickoya a special place for birdwatching. Camellia Hills’ Garden is inhabited by over 20 species of birds. Please refer to the ‘Common and Notable Birds’ book found in your room for more information on our little feathered friends. If you’d like to explore beyond the surrounds of Camellia Hills, a large collection of residents, endemic and migrant birds can be seen at Peak Ridge located a short walk from the bungalow. For a more in-depth experience, we recommend being accompanied by our Naturalist, if he is available at the time. Please speak with a butler for more information.
