The avifauna of Sri Lanka is rich in diversity. There are approximately 500 species of birds found in the country, of which 33 are endemic to the island, while 216 are migrant birds that visit every winter.
The Central Highlands of Sri Lanka is home to many of these birds, some of which are only found in the Hill Country, making Dickoya a special place for birdwatching.
Camellia Hills’’ garden is inhabited by over 20 species of birds. If you’d like to explore beyond the surrounds of Goatfell, a large collection of resident, endemic and migrant birds can be seen at the Peak Ridge Forest located a short walk from the bungalow.
