    Camellia Hills Eco Warriors Project

We work with 7-9 graders from the Dunkeld Upper Division, educating them on sustainability, wildlife conservation, reforestation, and biodiversity. Our first project with the Eco Warriors was a clean-up of a 5km road from Dunkeld School to upper Dunkeld division, collecting over 40kg of waste materials which we segregated and handed over to a local recycling organisation. We are in the process of providing them with Eco Warrior t-shirts and badges and organising 1-2 trips per year, with teachers/parents as chaperones.

Teardrop Hotels completed its second project – a community reforestation project, where we donated 50 jackfruit trees to the community members living in the Upper Dunkeld Division. Our Eco Warriors team assisted community members to plant these trees on their properties.

A Discussion on the Importance of Trees

Conducted in Tamil and English, Teardrop conducted a discussion on the importance of trees for our Eco Warriors. The second discussion will be on the importance of reducing and reusing plastics and keeping the environment clean. The eco warriors are going to be tasked with collecting and recycling waste.

    Jackfruit Plantation Project

Our latest project in assisting local communities to have more food security was the planting of 63 jack tree plants, placed around estate houses. The jack trees, once fully grown, will be a source of free food for the community. Our Eco Warriors team helped us identify places to plant trees, and they were hands-on in planting each sapling. They’ll also be assisting us in monitoring the growth of each tree.

Eco Warriors get an Educational Tour of Ambewela Farms

Teardrop Hotels hosted our Eco Warriors to an educational tour of the Ambewella Farm, where they got to learn the daily operation of the farm, the production process of dairy products and interact with the farm manager and even some of the animals.
