Projects

Teardrop Hotels CARE (Creating A Rewarding Experience) is the charitable foundation set up to give back to the communities we work in. Over the last year alone we have donated more than quarter of a million (330,000) rupees to charitable causes in the area surrounding our properties. These range from providing food, medicine, reading glasses and stationery to local low income families as well as helping mend a nearby temple roof, equip the playground at a primary school and sponsor 3 disabled children through a special needs school (Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities Limited). We have strong ties to a local orphanage and are helping some of the older children find work, with 1 currently being trained to work at the Wallawwa.

All our staff are very proud of our commitment to help sustain our local communities and as we grow as a company we look forward to increasing our involvement even more.

Teardrop Care Centre for Children with Disabilities

Teardrop Hotels has committed to being the lead sponsor of the 'Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities' (VACD) centre opening in the hill country town of Welimada.

Collaboration with the Tea Leaf Trust

The Tea Leaf Trust was founded in 2007, shortly after Tim & Yasmeen visited Sri Lanka on their honeymoon, to empower impoverished young people from the tea estates through education, employment and ethnic cohesion.

Collaboration with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

At Teardrop Hotels we believe in building relationships with universities, institutions, and think tanks that are addressing the sustainability challenges of the travel industry.

Camellia Hills Eco Warriors Project

We work with 22 children (7-9 graders) from the Dunkeld Upper Division, educating them on sustainability, wildlife conservation, reforestation, and biodiversity.

WEE Care

We support five women residing in the Upper Dunkeld Division, assisting them in their house garden projects as part of our first phase of the 2023WEE CARE Initiative.

Restoration and Maintenance of the Demodara Railway Station

We recently undertook restoration and maintenance of the Demodara Railway Station, also known as the ‘Demodara Loop'.
